Long Awaited Updates!

Hello QYS fans,

Melanie From QYS here to bring you all a much needed update. So many changes are currently being made that it's hard to know where to begin. First let me introduce myself. As you already know, my name is Melanie and I will be heavily involved in the management of QuarterYellow, from here on. I will be responsible for booking artists for the space, curating, projecting, handling merchandise, and much more of whatever need be done in this crazy business. If anybody would like to contact me they can reach me by e-mail at MelanieQYS@Gmail.com Simple enough, I think. Feel free to contact me if you have any inquiries about the space, art, or are an aspring artist yourself, looking to display your work here at QYS.

Although we are located at JungleScience, a gallery with a dark, romantic ambiance, we have our own style at QYS and are looking for art that is unique, fun, colorful, abstract, absurd, etc... It does NOT have to be all of these, or even any, I'm just trying to give a general guideline of what we're looking for. That's the beauty of art, it's always changing, and I can not give a set criteria for what I have not yet experienced. But please, if you  think your art would be a good fit, I highly encourage you to fill out an application which you can find at the end of this post. You can exhibit as a solo artist or with a group, please specify which you'd prefer in the application. I also highly encourage first time artists to apply. In the art world it is often easier to get a show if you already have a name for yourself, we want to help you get that name!

This Saturday, September 1st  (labor day weekend) we will be boothing at University fest, located at Binghamton University. So please, if you are a student, faculty, or just happen to be there anyway, come come by and talk to us! The fest will be from 11 am to 4 pm. We will be located by the Gorgeous Washington Street booth.

Now, let's talk about the next upcoming gallery event which is on First Friday September 7th. We will be dislaying the work of international artist, Braddy Romero, who is coming to Binghamton all the way from Peru.  His proceeds will go to Corazon de Dahlia, a non-profit organization that works with disadvantaged children and families. They will also be selling peruvian goods such as handbags to help raise money. So please, drop by and support the cause.

Also, this upcoming First Friday, JungleScience will be featuring artist Micah Donovick in the gallery's main space. And be sure to check out residence artists E.L. Downey, I am Horror studios, and Typhoid Mary's as well. It will be a great night, and well worth the visit!

In other news, Bruce Greig, artist from New Zealand, has joined our mural team as our senior muralist under the title Bruce Greig Creative. He has been painting for thirty-four years and has worked not only as a muralist, but  also as a set finisher on movies such as Lord of the Rings. We just finished our first collaboration with him at the Boys and Girls Club in Endicott, NY at 1 Clubhouse Road. Check it out;

If you would like a mural done by Bruce or any other members of the QuarterYellow mural team, you can call Kady at (607) 201-2884, or e-mail us at QuarterYellow@Gmail.com. We offer different styles. Bruce Greig Creative specializes in Hyper-realism but his work extends beyond that realm as well. He also enjoys working in a variety of paint forms, such as shellac.

After next First Friday, QuarterYellow will undergo a metamorphosis. After which the gallery space will also display artistic goods/ creative products made by local (and perhaps not-so local) artists. We would particularly love to sell innovative products, new artistic utilities not yet know to man kind, but if that's not your style, we are also open to items such as jewelry, snacks, ceramics, home decor/ creative home appliances, and even (of course,) art. There is a good chance we will sell your product at our shop! The renovation will be short and we will be back in the next couple months, re-opening with a Logo Launching party. Stay tuned to hear more about that.

I think that's all for now! Until next time,

-Melanie
