Unauthorized Mural: take one.

Things are all abuzz in QuarterYellow Land. Remember the mural I was talking about? Well, if you don’t, fear not because you can just look to your left.

Yes, there it is for all to see, Kady Perry’s first original Wall Mural since Spring in 2009. She's bought the paint, the brushes, and is ready to paint with her team of "supporting artist". Pictured with Ms. Perry are a couple of those artist, Theao Allen (yes, relation) and Caroline Hale. I like to call them Kady Perry and The Pips. Below is quick a 25 second video of the work they accomplished together.

Trust me, you would have too.

And here are some pictures. Pardon our progress:

With so much dedication, Ms. Perry goes from this...

And you get yelled at for drawing on your walls!

So, with less than a week and a half until show time, one question remains: Will Kady be able to finish the wall mural in time for the next First Friday? Which, will be Friday September 3rd. QuarterYellowStudios will be opening at 6pm. Just in case you forgot. Well, my dear 2 followers, stay tuned because next time you will get to meet Ericca and Joe, supporting artist extraordinaires and see even more progress. So until the next episode...

August Show

Hello all,

K.P and M.A here to tell you what you missed at the August showing. Yours truly, Minoo, once again showed short films. If you happened to miss it, don't worry, for I have provided you with a link to my vimeo page. Just don't let it happen again, missing it that is.

There are only the three up right now but do not fear, my friends, soon there will be more to come.

Also showing were two local artists: Janae Van Austin and Audrey Ryan. Van Austin had a lovely collection entitled "The Beauty of Broome County." Through her collection of photographs, she not only captured the local area's natural beauty but demonstrated with abstraction, an alternative view of our city.

Ryans collection, entitled "Obsessive Creations," was a mix of drawing, painting, print making and other traditional mediums. Where Van Austin focused on the comminuty, Ryan focused on, accoring to her artist statement, "visually revaling inner, otherwise invisible elements."

Both collections went over marvelously at First Friday and, as the picture below shows, the crowd was a plenty.
