The FFF show AKA February First Friday.

Greetings and salutations. I hope all is well for our dedicated group of followers. Let us start off by saying February's First Friday , or FFF AKA The Triple F as I have been calling it, went off phenomenally. It was an absolute pleasure showing off Sam's work and we wish him the best of luck with all his future endeavors. In case you missed the show, and we understand that it happens, here is a preview of some of his work, as well as his artistic process.

10 points if you recognize this one.

"My work deals with urban decay and humor; with formal qualities, like a trend towards portraiture, and a tendency to meander attentively where it will. Throughout these paintings there is an investigation of persona that emphasizes the realness of outcasts, swindlers, and sages. I observe a blind man living in the basement of my building who proclaims I owe him $42,000.00 in back rent, two lesbian mothers dragging kicking and screaming children to Sunday School, and the Wall Street investment banker personality.
This investigation has led me to explore the unfamiliar by creating maps. I collect train receipts, parking tickets, fliers, and bits and pieces designed for a specific city to create a mixed media collage. The collected material fragments represent a self-portrait, portraying emotions of being displaced, lost, excited, and amazed."

Also, if you happen to be in Boulder, Colorado between now and the 19th, be sure to check out his exhibit at Naropa University under the title "Face It." It sure to be a wonderful showing.

And please don't forgot to be at QYS for the next First Friday. We will be showing the work of Aaron Sheldon. Below is a sample of things to come.
