September Showing: Works in Progress

September Showing: Works in Progress

So, we didn’t finish. As hard we (well mostly Kady) tried we were no match for the mural. But have no fear, my dear followers because the show must go on. Instead of hiding the unfinished project, we proudly displayed the piece in a show aptly named “Works in Progress.”

Displayed were various pieces of Kady Perry’s incomplete work. The purpose of this show is to demonstrate the creative design process that goes behind every piece of art. Like many artists, Kady starts with preliminary pencil sketches before switching pencil to pen for the coloring process. Then after hours and hours of glorious labor, the piece is almost complete, but still missing those few but important final touches.

The show was a success, with none other then Mayor Matt Ryan making an appearance. Unfortunately there are no pictures, but I think our relationship has progressed enough for you to trust me. Other special guest appearances include:

Caroline and Dani, Lexi and Liz, Ken and his lovely lady friend, Amy and the new HDEV team of mentors, Sage, BU students and First Friday art goers. You’ve all helped to make the night a true success.

Enough about the past and on to the future. Next First Friday the mural will be done- promise. And in that mural will be hidden objects for you all to find. That’s right, kiddies interactive art. And you thought 3D was the next big thing. So please, come and participate in the scavenger hunt. You’ll never find the sail boat. That’s a challenge.

Keep it campy (the seasons almost over) Minoo and Kady

Unauthorized Mural: take two.

JUST PAINT! That has been the mantra around QuarterYellowStudios for the past month. With less than 48 hours until the next show, just paint is all we can do to ensure you, the eager public, have a chance to see what has been consuming all of Kady Perry’s free time. With over three weeks of work, the leaps that have been made are incredible. But don’t just take my word for it, you might not trust me just yet. Instead take a look at the pictures, conveniently located beneath this text.

Completion is nigh.

With help from her supporting artists, Kady has created an entirely new world from what was once nothing more than an egg shell white wall. She has made her mark. She has made it permanent. But why the need for permanency? Well, that lies in her interest with color theory and color harmony.

Whether it be from the flashing neon lights of our biggest cities or the subtle earth tones from our quaintest country sides, color is what attracts Kady when she looks out at the world. Obsessively studying both color theory and color harmony for over two years, she has learned the intricate process behind using both these tools to create her own brand of murals. By using color and design, she takes the largest blank canvas available and renders a world tailor made for her and her clients. Her addition of color and shape can create a new environment that turns a meaningless place into someones own personalized space. She hopes her design aesthetics can be used to create an environment full of vibrancy and life; a permeant atmosphere of healing.

Stay Alive (at least for First Friday)
Minoo and Kady.
